Electric Scooter (Moped 50cc UBCO2x2)
The closest thing to a motorbike you can ride with a car license. You need to have experience riding a moped such as a Vespa OR have experience on a Motorbike. The UBCO 2×2 has a sensitive throttle and requires skill and confidence to ride at 50km/h. Still not sure what this is? UBCO 2×2

Pedal Assist Bicycle RemiDemi
This is a bicycle with a little help up the hills. It is not an e-bike with a throttle and will only go as fast as you can pedal. You can carry a child under 35kg under 10 years on the back. Still not sure what this is? RemiDemi.

BIKE QUESTIONS

It is a road registered vehicle like a 50cc scooter/vespa/moped but electric. Road registered means it has a number plate so you’re driving on the road with other traffic. This option is for customers with experience driving a moped (drivers licence) or someone who has a motorbike licence. If you are a capable driver of the UBCO 2×2 then this is a great way to see Magnetic Island.

Its exactly like riding a bicycle except when you pedal you can add as much assistance from the motor as required. This means you can get some help up those Maggie hills. There is no throttle you use the peddals and the + – to get more or less help. You still have to peddal to get moving. Have a look at our bike page for more info

No the UBCO bikes are registered as single seater. The UBCO 2×2 is only for single drivers with an open drivers licence

There are 2 pedal assist bikes available with rear padded seats and 1 baby seat available. The child on the rear seat will need to be under 40kg and be old enough to hold onto the adult. It is just a comfy seat there are no straps. There are pegs for the child to put their feet with guards to block the wheel.
BOOKING AND TIMES

Pick up is between 8am adn 11:30am. If you are coming from Townsville please catch no later than the 10:30 ferry.
We are not open after 11:30am for pickup and do not do half day hire. If you only have an afternoon to explore the Island we suggest that you catch the bus to the Forts Walk, return past Alma and Geoffery Bay and then walk back to the Ferry terminate from there.

If you hire the UBCO 2×2 Electric Scooter No, it is single day only. You can select the 8pm drop off option to enjoy the West Point Sunset.
If you hire the RemiDemi pedal assist bicycle then YES you can hire for up to 7 days

We recommend that each individual or family group books their bikes separately. Your card details are stored against your booking so you would be taking responsibility for any insurance or damage that may occur. We also really want all participants to read and understand exactly what they are hiring and be confident especially when hiring the UBCO electric moped/Scooter/Postie Bike. This is especially important for anyone in the group who has not had experience riding a 50cc scooter or motorbike in the past. If you still want to go ahead with a group booking then you will need to gather all of the groups drivers license numbers and ensure that they all agree to and understand the waver. Thanks

The weather in North Queensland is very hot and extremely humid over the summer months. It can also rain heavily at times. The West Point Road is often flooded and the roads are wet. Magnetic Island Roaming prefers beautiful weather for our customers and so we will be closed during these hot months, taking a break or will be closed over periods of rain.

You cannot go to West Point. On arrival we will show a map with different areas highlighted and advise what to expect. For the easiest carefree riding Arcadia and Nelly are the cruizy areas with ample footpaths. Subject to your level of fitness and ability there are some areas of the island that are narrow, winding which may not be suited so some riders.
